Meridian Implements Proliance® Within Real Estate and Retail Markets
Trammell Crow Company and the Westfield Group go live with web-based solution to optimize building, construction and facilities initiatives
FOLSOM, Calif. (July 22, 2004) Meridian Project Systems®, provider of enterprise solutions for managing large physical infrastructure initiatives, has implemented its Proliance solution with two industry leaders in the real estate services and retail development markets. Trammell Crow Company, a diversified global real estate services firm, and the Westfield Group, one of the world's leading shopping center organizations, have successfully implemented and begun using Proliance.
Proliance optimizes project lifecycles and automates business processes for real estate, construction, and other physical infrastructure initiatives. Proliance uniquely combines complete Project and Portfolio Management functionality, Business Process Management and a Business Intelligence layer in one comprehensive solution. Proliance is designed for large business enterprises that rely on physical infrastructure to deliver their core business, whether that infrastructure is manufacturing facilities, retail outlets, office buildings or transportation systems.
Trammell Crow Company
Trammell Crow Company is currently leveraging the Budget and Contract
Management and Vendor Management business applications of Proliance
to streamline cost tracking and to manage thousands of clients, contractors
and subcontractors across geographies. The company has also rolled out
the Office Management business application to automate drawing and correspondence
management across all of its projects.
"We currently have users nationwide utilizing the Proliance solution," said Sam Sockwell, assistant vice president of information technology for Trammell Crow Company. "Proliance technology allows our project managers to become both more efficient and more effective, and to provide an even greater level of service consistency to our clients.
"The Proliance workflow engine allows us to automate business processes across every function. As a result, we can reduce the time and effort needed to process information, as well as ensure better enforcement of best practices company wide," finished Sockwell.
Westfield Group
Westfield's initial implementation serves more than 30 users in the
United Kingdom (200 US and UK-based users by September 2004) from a
single solution hosted in Los Angeles, Calif. The Proliance solution
allows Westfield to collaborate and share data more efficiently across
six key areas: development, design, construction, architecture, leasing
and management functions.
Using the Proliance XML technology format, Westfield employees and partners can easily share and re-use data for several purposes, including job costing and contract management, managing drawing and design documents, and collaborating on construction. The bottom line result is improved visibility into Westfield’s multiple business units, and optimized performance of its retail development portfolio, valued at $5 billion in the near term with longer term identified developments of an additional $3.5 billion.
"Proliance technology brings incredible value to our owner/operator/construction company in a way we had not previously conceived," said Rick Gehringer, global chief information officer of Westfield. "It breaks down barriers, automates building processes, and provides a level of integration that hasn't been seen before," commented Gehringer.
Both Trammell Crow Company and Westfield value that Meridian has adopt open technology standards and aligned with the Microsoft .NET application framework. By leveraging XML and Web services, the Proliance platform provides long-term dividends by supporting their future technology strategies, allowing integration with other core business solutions. Westfield is planning to benefit from this flexibility, by using XML to integrate Proliance with PeopleSoft’s Enterprise One application.
