Bovis Lend Lease Utilizes Meridian Project Systems' Internet Technology to Increase Process Efficiency on Four Seasons Project
Leading construction management firm standardizes on Meridian products
FOLSOM, Calif. - September 26, 2001 -- Meridian Project Systems, a leading e-business and software solutions provider for the construction industry, and Bovis Lend Lease Americas, one of the world's largest construction management firms, have combined strengths to improve Bovis' project team communication and reduce hours and costs.
As the construction manager for the Four Seasons Hotel and Tower in Miami, Fla., Bovis Lend Lease relies on Meridian Project Systems' Prolog solutions to efficiently manage core processes and collaborate via the Internet. "Effectively communicating with all the parties involved in this expansive project is vital," said Rick Pena, Bovis construction manager, who reports that the core team leaders, including owner representatives, architects, engineers, sub contractors and third-party consultants, total more than 100. "Meridian Project Systems' Prolog Website provides a convenient, central location for everyone to access up-to-date information, as well as post their own updates. To date, Prolog has saved us hundreds of hours and thousands of dollars."
Bovis has used Prolog to submit and track more than 1,200 RFIs (some with digital sketches attached), bid packages and change-management tracking for upgrades that exceed $25 million in value. Bovis team members also rely on Prolog's Daily Work Journals to track project details, and the HotList feature to track and manage hundreds of design management items.
The $235 million project began in January 2000 and will be completed in the first quarter of 2003. This construction feat will rank as the tallest residential building on the south-eastern seaboard and will feature 186 condominiums, 84 condo/hotel units, a 45,000-square-foot fitness and spa facility, 200,000-square feet of Class A office space, and a 221-room Four Seasons Hotel.
A long-time Meridian Project Systems' client, Bovis Lend Lease Americas recognizes the value of full-featured applications and is standardizing on Prolog products. "On the Four Season project we are able to manage information instead of manhandling paperwork, which allows us to focus our human resources on building the building," said Timothy J. Wensing, vice president, director of Florida operations at Bovis. "That return on investment will only increase as we continue to use Meridian Project Systems' solutions on this project and others."
Al Marshall, vice president of sales and marketing at Meridian Project Systems, credits Bovis with a long-term vision. "Bovis Lend Lease continues to dominate because it strategically focuses its resources in order to maximize investment," Marshall said. "Bovis took the time to thoroughly research the market for the best solution and then trained its employees to fully utilize the tools. We're pleased that Bovis has streamlined its processes using our products and look forward the future of our relationship."
