Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport Selects the Prolog Project Pack for a $2.6B Expansion and Renovation Project
SACRAMENTO, Calif., March 15, 2000 -- Meridian Project Systems (Meridian), a leading provider of software and eBusiness solutions for the Architectural, Engineering, and Construction industry (AEC), announced today that Dallas/Fort Worth (DFW) International Airport, third in the world in operations and fifth in passengers served, has awarded Meridian a major contract to provide a total project management solution including consulting, training and technical support as the 26-year old airport expands to accommodate future growth.
To date DFW has purchased 35 licenses of Prolog Manager, Prolog WebSite and Prolog Executive, and plans to purchase more licenses during the next several years, as they prepare for a seven-year, $2.6 Billion Capital Development Program (CDP). "We needed a program management solution that would help us efficiently and effectively manage a variety of expansion projects," said Jack Zill, Program Administrator of the Airport Development Department (ADD) at DFW. "We could have between 100 to 200 team members using Prolog on these projects, with some of them located in different parts of the country and possibly overseas. It was important for us to have a solution that would help manage project budgets and records, in a real time format, so we would know where we stood on any of the projects were managing."
The ADD project team will utilize the Prolog Project Pack on improvements including a state-of-the-art automated people mover, numerous airfield projects, and a 26-gate International Terminal. Meridian project management solution will result in increased project accountability and control for DFW and their team of consultants and contractors. Prolog Manager will primarily be used for cost control, engineering, and superintending functions. Project team members located off-site will be able to collaborate and communicate using an Internet browser through Prolog WebSite, Meridian eBusiness solution. Prolog Executive, Meridian project portfolio data mining application, will be used by ADD staff to produce status reports and charts for senior staff and airport board members.
Consulting services provided by Meridian include customization of Prolog to better adapt to DFWs existing project management system, development of a DFW specific user manual, and a detailed Quality Assurance Program process utilizing modules and reports within Prolog. "DFW's 200 member project team will work more effectively as a result of their deployment of Prolog Manager," said Troy Tyler, Manager of Consulting Services at Meridian. "With our assistance, DFW is standardizing their business processes across dozens of companies by implementing the Prolog Project Pack as a complete project control system."
