Customizing Grids in Prolog - Part I
By Steve Van Dyke, Meridian’s Prolog Product Lead
You can customize grids in a Prolog Manager form by changing the properties of the grid. To set grid properties follow the steps below.
1. Right-click any cell in the grid for which you want to set grid properties.
2.
Select Grid Properties on the shortcut menu.
3.
Prolog Manager opens the Grid Properties dialog box.
4.
To change grid properties, do one or more of the following:
- Allow users to resize columns - select the Allow Column Resizing check box. To resize a column, place your cursor directly on the line between columns and drag in either direction to resize the column.
- Allow users to move columns - select the Allow Column Moving check box. With this option checked, you can move a column by the drag and drop method. Click and hold on the header of the column and drag the column to the desired position.
- Allow users to swap or switch the positions of two columns - select the Allow Column Swapping check box. Click on the dropdown on the header and select the column to replace the existing column.
- Allow users to resize rows - select the Allow Row Resizing check box. To resize a row, place your cursor directly on the line between rows and drag in either direction to resize the row.
- Show the location of the splitter in a grid - select the Show Splitter check box. A splitter will appear on the selected splitter position. Example; when selecting 2 as the splitter position, the first two columns will freeze pane and the splitter will locate after the first two columns.
- Change the location of the splitter position - in the Splitter Position list; select the number representing the column after which you want to insert the splitter.
- Change the number of lines in the header row - in the Lines in Header Row list; select the number of lines you want to use for text in column headers.
Grids can be sorted ascending or descending by any column. Highlight a selected column within a grid by clicking on the header and then right click within that column and choose sort ascending or sort descending depending on your preference.
Bonus Tip:
Once you have completed customizing your grids on one machine you can copy the ‘Layout’ folder from the logged on users profile to all users profiles in the same location to quickly update the same grid conditions on all machines.
Follow these steps:
- On the customized machine, open Windows Explorer to C:\Documents and Settings\username\Application Data\MPS\Prolog Manager\Version 7\Layout.
- Copy this Layout folder for each user to the same location on other Prolog machines.
