Changing a Contact ID in Prolog Manager
By Charity Muse, Meridian Technical Support Analyst

Have you ever wanted to change a Contact ID in Company Setup, but couldn’t because they were already linked to records? There is a way to accomplish this, using the Duplicate Company Manager tool.

  1. Open up the Duplicate Company Manager. It can be found from the main menu by selecting Tools > Database Utilities > Duplicate Company Manager.
  2. In the Duplicate Company Manager grid, select the company containing the contact you want to modify.
  3. In the New ID column for this row, select or type the same company ID that exists in the Current ID column. Prolog Manager automatically sets the Merge Mode for this row to The Same Company.
  4. Under this company, locate the contact that you wish to modify.
  5. For the row containing this contact, in the New ID column, type the new contact ID. Prolog Manager automatically sets the Merge Mode for this row to Change the ID.
  6. In the Confirmed column, select the check box for the contact's company.
  7. Click the OK button. The Notes for the Log File dialog box appears.
  8. Type any comments you wish to make about your change and click the Close button.

The Duplicate Company Manager changes the ID for the selected contact to the characters in the New ID column and updates the log file with your changes!

This information, along with how to change the Company ID, can be found in our Help system. Just press F1 to access it from anywhere within Prolog Manager.
