Hathaway Dinwiddie Selects Meridian ASP Solution to Control Construction Costs and Improve Executive Decision Making Corporate-wide
ENR Top 200 firm renews enterprise contract for ProjectTalk®, Meridian’s online project management solution
FOLSOM, Calif. (June 9, 2005) - Meridian Systems®, an enterprise solution provider for optimizing the plan, build and operate phases of real estate, construction and other infrastructure programs, announces that ENR Top 200 ranked firm Hathaway Dinwiddie has signed a three-year, enterprise-wide agreement for ProjectTalk, Meridian’s online project management solution. Hathaway Dinwiddie first implemented the solution in 2001. As the Hathaway Dinwiddie corporate standard, ProjectTalk has improved executive decision making and enabled strict cost control for negotiated construction contracts.
Hathaway Dinwiddie provides general contracting and complete project planning and management services in California's most dynamic markets. For nearly a century, Hathaway Dinwiddie has helped the nation's premier companies and institutions develop landmark structures and quality interior spaces throughout the San Francisco Bay Area, Silicon Valley, and Southern California. The company’s innovative, customer-focused processes with an emphasis on experienced, accurate pre-construction planning and detailed project management have been essential in building and renovating landmark structures such as The Getty Center in Los Angeles, and The TransAmerica Building and Louise M. Davies Symphony Hall both in San Francisco.
“Our negotiated contracts encompass 85 to 90 percent of Hathaway Dinwiddie’s work. When we started looking into project management software, we knew that a robust cost control application would have to be part of our chosen software solution. We need to watch the bottom line on every job and then report that information back to our executive team,” said Mark Liew, Hathaway Dinwiddie sr. vice president. “We need to keep them abreast of what we’re doing in our daily construction operations and how that should impact our strategic direction. ProjectTalk is critical to keeping us on budget and within schedule and then providing our executives a clear report of our efficiency and the quality of the end result.”
ProjectTalk is a full-featured project management, collaboration and scheduling solution to which users subscribe and access via the Internet. ProjectTalk delivers in-depth project management features across projects and programs in the areas of collaboration, purchasing management, scheduling, cost control, document management and field administration. This online service is used by professionals in the architectural, engineering and construction industry (AEC) to plan, build and operate physical assets. With ProjectTalk, AEC professionals can manage their projects over the Internet on a convenient, subscription basis.
“Hathaway Dinwiddie also recognizes that as an ASP, ProjectTalk offers us extreme flexibility. We’ve tried completely custom solutions, generated in-house; we’ve used other vendor products and used Meridian’s Prolog® Manager, the self-hosted version of ProjectTalk. But ProjectTalk offers us Meridian’s recognized industry-leading project management capability without the need for extensive in-house IT expertise or capital outlay for IT hardware. ProjectTalk has been, and will continue to be, an excellent match for our needs.
“We’re very happy to continue our relationship with Meridian who is truly the provider of the only project management software that completely addresses the core needs of companies in the AEC industry,” finished Liew.
